A former Highland Park High School offensive lineman is taking his talents back home -- 2.4 miles away from Highlander Stadium, to be exact.
Boston College offensive lineman Thomas Shelmire -- who exited Highland Park as one of the top Class of 2018 prospects in the country -- announced on Twitter Friday that he is transferring to SMU after redshirting last season with the Eagles.
Barring a waiver, Shelmire will be forced to sit out the 2019 season with the Mustangs, in accordance with the NCAA transfer policies.
Shelmire, at 6-foot-3 and 295 pounds, excelled during his playing days under coach Randy Allen at Highland Park.
