SMU backup QB D.J. Gillins missed TCU game with toe injury

SMU backup quarterback D.J. Gillins missed Saturday's loss to TCU with a toe injury, head coach Chad Morris said on the AAC's weekly coaches conference call.

Morris had spoken during the lead-up to SMU's 56-36 loss to TCU that he expected multiple quarterbacks to play in the rivalry game. Starter Ben Hicks was the only Mustang to play quarterback against the Horned Frogs.

Morris said on the conference call that Gillins was back running at practice on Sunday. The Pearl River (Miss.) Community College transfer has completed one of two pass attempts this season for a 76-yard touchdown.
