The two programs announced on Tuesday that they will play a home-and-home series starting in 2021. Louisiana Tech will host the first meeting, scheduled for Sept. 18, 2021, while SMU will host the Bulldogs on Sept. 2, 2023.
"I think it makes sense. I think that it's two programs that have a good tradition and that are regional rivals," SMU head coach Sonny Dykes said. "Our fans can travel to and from, both teams fans can come to the game and it should be two competitive ball games."
