North Carolina State's Dave Doeren has opted to remain in Raleigh rather than accept the Tennessee head coaching job, according to multiple media reports. That could mean an opening for SMU head coach Chad Morris.
According to Sports Illustrated's Bruce Feldman, Morris could be the next man on Tennessee's list along with USC offensive coordinator Tee Martin.
Morris, the former Clemson offensive coordinator, led SMU to its first bowl appearance since 2012 with a 7-5 record. He inherited a 1-11 team after the 2014 season. There were previously reports that Morris interviewed with Tennessee on Tuesday, but Feldman says that did not occur.
