Report: Former Cal coach Sonny Dykes a name to watch at SMU

Dykes spent four seasons at Cal before being fired following the 2016 season. He amassed a 41-45 record in seven seasons at Berkeley and Louisiana Tech, including a 1-1 mark in bowl games. He was named WAC Coach of the Year in 2011.

The 48-year-old is a Big Spring native who played baseball at Texas Tech before starting his coaching career as the running backs coach at Richardson Pearce in 1994.

Dykes spent this past season as an offensive analyst at TCU, neither serving as a coach nor recruiter for the Horned Frogs.
