One way or another, these transfers will help tell SMU football's story in 2017

UNIVERSITY PARK -- Looking over the depth chart SMU released Tuesday before its season opener against Stephen F. Austin, there might be some names that fans don't recognize from Saturdays in 2016, or even signing day in February.

SMU's two-deep to start the season features nine transfers. Five come from other FBS programs. Three are from junior colleges. One went to both an FBS school and a junior college. Only one, defensive tackle J.T. Williams (Denton/Trinity Valley CC), played for SMU last season.

They are new faces at Gerald R. Ford Stadium, but not fresh ones. They have experience, some at SEC and Pac-12 schools.
