CINCINNATI - SMU defensive end Dimarya Mixon was out Saturday with a knee injury, head coach Chad Morris said after the Mustangs’ 31-28 overtime win over Cincinnati. Morris expects to know more about Mixon’s status going forward Tuesday.

Mixon, a graduate transfer from Tennessee, injured himself during practice. He had 15 tackles and 1.5 sacks in the first six games of the season.

Tyeson Neals started in Mixon’s place at defensive end Saturday. The junior college transfer finished with four tackles, including a critical sack late in the second quarter that helped preserve SMU’s 21-20 halftime advantage.
