UNIVERSITY PARK -- Playing near his hometown for the first time as a collegian, freshman guard Shake Milton showed he belongs in SMU's starting lineup, regardless of venue or opponent.
He scored a season-high 24 points on 8-of-9 shooting, including 7 of 8 from behind the arc, in an 81-69 victory over Tulsa.
That performance in SMU's American Athletic Conference opener solidified Milton as a starter. Soon after, Sedrick Barefield, the freshman whom many thought would be the heir apparent to senior point guard Nic Moore, and junior shooting guard Keith Frazier left the team.
Milton's transition to college has been so smooth that Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown rarely takes him out.
