SMU was more than capable of making a deep run in the NCAA tournament this year.
After all, the Ponies were the last undefeated team in the country, recorded their third straight 25-win season and finished ranked No. 24 in the final AP poll of the season.
Unfortunately for SMU, the NCAA brought the hammer down and handed SMU a postseason ban due to multiple infractions.
So how will SMU fare next season? According to ESPN.com's Jeff Borzello, the Mustangs will take a step back.
"Of course, they're ineligible for the NCAA Tournament -- and will now lose Nic Moore, Jordan Tolbert and Markus Kennedy," he wrote.
