Men’s soccer jumps into top-25 after big weekend

SMU men’s soccer came in at No. 19 United Soccer Coach’s Poll after beating Brown and Loyola (Md.) last weekend.

The Mustangs are in the top-25 for the first time since August 2016. They are also the only team in the AAC to make the current rankings.

SMU’s successful weekend began Friday night when the Ponies routed Loyola (Md.) 4-0 at Westcott Field. Garrett McLaughlin, Mauro Cichero, Talen Maples and Colten Habecker all scored in the victory. Maples’ goal was the first of his career.

The Mustangs’ most impressive win of the weekend came Sunday, when they took on an undefeated Brown team.
