SportsDay is trying to identify potential way-too-early Heisman candidates from area schools -- an annual, tongue-in-check style exercise.
Firstly, let's get something straight: This is not a story that declares an SMU player will win, or even be seriously considered for, the Heisman Trophy, the award given annually to college football's best player. It has now been more than 70 years since Doak Walker captured the Mustangs' only Heisman honor, and the game of college football today resembles little of what it did back then.
