How can SMU beat Memphis? It starts with slowing down 'remarkable' Tigers RB Darrell Henderson

UNIVERSITY PARK -- Memphis running back Darrell Henderson has 158 carries. He is averaging 9.15 yards per try.

That is correct. Henderson is averaging a mind-boggling, hard-to-comprehend 9.15 yards per carry.

To put that into perspective, only two other FBS players -- Illinois' Reggie Corbin and Clemson's Travis Etienne -- are averaging more than eight yards per carry this season. Wisconsin's Jonathan Taylor, the leader in rushing yards, is at 6.79 yards per carry.

The FBS-level season record, with a minimum of 100 runs, is 9.63 by Houston's Chuck Weatherspoon in 1989. Weatherspoon padded his stats with 209 yards in 15 carries against an SMU team in its first post-probation season.
