SMU left its 35-22 loss to Houston just before the bye week downtrodden. The team felt like it had opportunities to pick up the big road win but came up short.
The loss was a blow to the Mustangs' hopes of competing for a division title. Houston and Navy entered the season as the favorites in the American Athletic Conference's West Division and the defeat to UH put SMU at a disadvantage in the standings.
But just when you think you have the AAC figured out, it throws you a curveball like it did on Saturday. Houston shocks many by falling on the road to lowly Tulsa, 45-17.
