Foster the people: This man has been key in helping SMU find its identity on defense

UNIVERSITY PARK -- Just in time for the start of American Athletic Conference play, the SMU men's basketball team has rediscovered the art of defense.

In careening to a 2-3 start in nonconference play, the Mustangs were "terrible defensively,'' coach Tim Jankovich said. Opponents scorched them for a .457 shooting percentage.

SMU has won six of its last seven games going into the AAC opener against East Carolina, which has a nine-game losing streak against the Mustangs, on Wednesday night at Moody Coliseum. The Mustangs have held opponents to a .427 shooting percentage in that seven-game span.
