UNIVERSITY PARK -- When people look back on Courtland Sutton's career at SMU, they'll remember his catches on the football field, the touchdowns, the displays of athleticism.
Some might also recall that, for a semester, he played under Larry Brown on the SMU basketball team.
The team was low on scholarship players in 2015-16 after two midseason transfers. So to boost numbers, Brown invited football players to try out for the team. A couple took the Hall of Famer up on his offer, but only Sutton made the team.
Brown lamented that year that if he'd had a full offseason to work with Sutton, he would have been able to play a larger role with the team.
