Chad Morris is impressed with SMU QB Ben Hicks' offseason transformation

UNIVERSITY PARK -- SMU turned its annual weigh-in into Club Mustang, complete with flashing lights and blaring music. But even with all the bells and whistles, what stood out more to head coach Chad Morris was the physical transformation that quarterback Ben Hicks went through over the past calendar year.

"Well, a year ago he weighed 218. And he weighs 203 here today," Morris said before SMU's first fall practice. "So he has totally transformed his body. He looks great, he moves well."

The slimmed physique could help with Hicks' mobility. The 6-foot-1 quarterback was sacked 23 times as a redshirt freshman, dropping his rushing total for 2016 to -83.
