Ben Hicks seems entrenched as SMU's starting QB, but battle for backup position is intriguing

Adam Grosbard, SMU beat writer for SportsDayDFW.com and The Dallas Morning News, answered questions about the Mustangs and American Athletic Conference during a live chat Wednesday.

Who is leading SMU's quarterback battle through June?

Grosbard: I mean, this has been Ben Hicks' job to lose since last year. DJ Gillins tipped that off when he transferred to UT-San Antonio rather than wait for fall camp at SMU. The backup quarterback battle is more interesting to me at this point, between redshirt freshman Austin Upshaw, true freshman Will Brown and senior Rafe Peavey.
