In the span of one week, Ben Hicks went from zero to hero.
Last Saturday in Michigan, the junior was benched in favor of Will Brown after throwing a pick-six right before the half. This Saturday, the roles were reversed, as Ben Hicks came off of the bench to lead SMU to a 31-30 victory over Navy at Ford Stadium. It was SMU’s first victory over the Midshipmen since 1998.
Hicks took over in overtime, with the Mustangs trailing 30-23 and needing a touchdown to keep the game going. He stepped up to the occasion, completing all three of his passes, including a four-yard touchdown pass to James Proche that made it 30-29.
