In the second half of a back-to-back, SMU continued its torrid shooting from Monday's win over Boise State. Freshman Ethan Chargois hit two quick 3-pointers and scored eight of SMU's first 10 points as it built an early seven-point lead.
Cal-Poly stayed close at first by essentially taking every moderately open 3-pointer that presented itself. The visitors' first three made baskets came from 3-point range and 18 of their first 25 shots were from behind the arc.
The strategy only worked for so long, because SMU hit more 3-pointers (15) than Cal-Poly (12) on 10 fewer attempts.
