The American Athletic Conference chose SMU's Reggie Roberson Jr. as its special-teams player of the week.
Roberson, returning from injury, scored on a 98-yard kickoff return in Saturday's 31-30 win against Navy. Roberson's score came immediately after Navy had gone ahead at 14-10.
"Navy had momentum, and we needed to answer,'' SMU coach Sonny Dykes said. "It was a crucial time of the game.''
Dykes said the return was blocked well, with Tyler Page picking off two Navy defenders. Roberson also did well by letting the blocking take shape before going into overdrive, Dykes said.
Roberson, of Mesquite Horn, also scored on a 20-yard reception.
