That's the sound the ball made as it flew over quarterback Ben Hicks' head on SMU's first play from scrimmage. Shades of Peyton Manning in the Super Bowl. The bad snap set the tone for the Mustangs' first drive, which certainly didn't go as planned. Hicks was sacked twice and SMU found itself in multiple third-and-long situations. The Mustangs took an early chance and successfully converted on fourth and 1 in their own territory, but could only grind the ball to the Memphis 37-yard line and were forced to punt from the 44.
