SMU plays its penultimate game of the regular season on Saturday at Memphis (11 a.m., ESPNews). Here are five things Mustang fans should know about the Tigers before kickoff.
1. Rising. The Tigers sit in first place in the American Conference's West Division with an 8-1 record, the only loss coming to UCF. The record has Memphis ranked 21st in the latest College Football Playoff standings. If Memphis wins one more game, whether against SMU or East Carolina in the season finale, it will clinch the division title. If Memphis wins out, including a likely rematch with Central Florida in the conference title game, the Tigers would likely be the G5 representative in the New Year's Six bowls.
