Here are five takeaways from SMU's 58-14 win over Stephen F. Austin.
Taking care of business
The result was expected, but SMU never left any doubt in its beatdown of the Lumberjacks. The Mustangs scored five touchdowns before SFA could get rid of its goose egg on the scoreboard. That's exactly what was expected of SMU against an FCS opponent, so there's no need to make bold predictions about the team after that. But it was a good showing that won't sow much doubt in this team after Week 1.
Under pressure
SMU's pass rush was everywhere on Saturday, putting pressure on the SFA quarterbacks that prevented any serious shots downfield.
