5 takeaways from SMU's 54-32 win over UNT

UNIVERSITY PARK -- Here are five takeaways from SMU's 54-32 win over UNT.

1. Bombs away. SMU beat UNT with its passing game. There were the school-record four receiving touchdowns by Courtland Sutton, two for 40-plus yards. There was D.J. Gillins' 76-yard touchdown pass to Myron Gailliard in garbage time to put an exclamation point on it all. In total, SMU passed for nearly 400 yards. Starter Ben Hicks threw for 312 yards himself, 163 of which went to Sutton. It was an impressive performance by the passing game after some serious struggles in that department against SFA last weekend.
