Now that SMU's football camp has closed, let's evaluate what we learned this spring and talk some reasons for pessimism entering the 2019 season.
Tough road ahead
Something we knew about well before spring camp, but also something worth mentioning. SMU's 2019 schedule is challenging, featuring eight games against opponents who played in bowl games last season. The schedule also features some tough tests on the road, such as games at TCU, South Florida, Houston, Memphis and Navy.
Depth concerns (offensive line)
A unit that was decimated in the offseason by graduates and transfers actually came together in spring better than many had hoped.
