Women’s rugby team attracts SHU students

The Union County Rugby Football Club Mudturtles have been in existence since 1974, but prior to 2015, there was not a team for women.

That all changed last year when Anna Gildea, a law student at Seton Hall University, needed a team to play for after a four-year career at Fordham.

With commuting to play in New York City an inconvenient option, she got creative.

Rugby is one of the fastest growing sports in the nation, and it is difficult for women to find a local team to play for if their university does not offer the sport.
