The Seton Hall women’s volleyball team fell to Seattle and Princeton University on the opening day of the Rutgers Invitational in a double-header Friday. The team’s record now stands at 5-7 on the season.
In the first game against Seattle University, the Pirates lost three consecutive sets (26-28, 17-25, 26-28). Standout performers were Tessa Fournier, who recorded a match-high 28 digs, while Cherise Hennigan led the team with 12 kills.
In the first set the pirates faced stiff competition with neither team taking a clear lead, nine ties in total. The Pirates held a sight lead near the end of the set, until Seattle scored three straight to make the score 24-23 and enter set point.
