Men’s soccer looking to build upon early stats

The men’s soccer team is off to a slow start, opening their season with a win and two losses over the last two weeks.

The Pirates started on a high note with a 6-0 win over Central Connecticut State. The victory was propelled by transfer Stephen Elias’ standout performance in which he scored a hattrick in the first half. His accomplishment led to the Big East naming him Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Nine different Pirates had points in the match and the team racked up a 28-8 shot advantage.

The Pirates’ first loss to ranked Florida Gulf Coast State was a heartbreaker, as the Eagles scored with 15 seconds left in regulation on a rebound to steal the game from the Pirates.
