Defense leads Seton Hall past Georgetown, into sole possession of third in Big East

NEWARK — Several things went wrong for Seton Hall when it faced Georgetown on Saturday night, setbacks that could have easily spelled disaster for a Pirate team fighting to get off the NCAA Tournament bubble and firmly into the Big Dance.

Isaiah Whitehead, the team's leading scorer, had a frustrating shooting night — finishing 3-for-15 from the field. Desi Rodriguez, the team's third-leading scorer, was held to just 12 minutes of action because of foul trouble, further slowing an offense that struggled to find consistency throughout the contest. That would be enough to throw most teams off their game.
