Week 6 SEC Power Rankings: Clear Line Between Top Teams & Middle Tier

Let's face it - the SEC is having a down year. LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Tennessee all suffered hugely disappointing losses on Saturday while several others - Alabama, Georgia and Auburn - picked up statement. We're already approaching the halfway point of the season, meaning there is very limited tied to turn their season around. Here are our SEC Power Rankings heading into Week 6 of the college football season:

14) Missouri Tigers (1-3)
Mizzou is the only team in the SEC with a single win and couldn't add to that total with a bye last week. It's looking like another long season in Columbia.

13) Ole Miss Rebels (2-2)
Oof, has Ole Miss fallen from their promising 2-0 start or what? They followed a loss at Cal with a 66-3 drubbing at the hands of Alabama. With everything surrounding this program, it doesn't look like things will be getting better anytime soon.

12) Arkansas Razorbacks (2-2)
Arkansas' only two wins this year have come over Florida A&M and New Mexico State. That's not good.

11) Tennessee Volunteers (3-2)
Boy, did Tennessee look inept in their 41-0 loss to Georgia. It's only a matter of time until Butch Jones is fired.

10) LSU Tigers (3-2)
Speaking of bad losses...a 24-21 home loss to Troy? Really LSU? The Tigers were out-physicaled up front on both sides of the ball and don't look like anything we usually expect from the Bayou Bengals. They get another tough test this week at Florida.

9) Mississippi State Bulldogs (3-2)
That win over LSU doesn't look as good as it used to, does it? Since that game, they've been outscored 80-13 by Auburn and Georgia. That's just terrible.

8) Vanderbilt Commodores (3-2)
Vanderbilt isn't the team we thought they were after beating Kansas State, but they're still a solid team. That 59-0 loss to Alabama will loom large all season, but they were competitive against Florida in The Swamp until the very end. Now they get Georgia in Nashville.

7) South Carolina Gamecocks (3-2)
South Carolina's offense has struggled to find their rhythm without star wide receiver Deebo Samuel but have a three-game stretch coming - vs. Arkansas, at Tennessee, vs. Vanderbilt - that will be very telling about their place in the SEC.

6) Kentucky Wildcats (4-1)
The Wildcats are a tough team to figure out. They dominated South Carolina and nearly beat Florida, yet their wins over Southern Miss, Eastern Kentucky, and Eastern Michigan came by a combined 22 points. This group has a tendency to play to the level of their competition.

5) Texas A&M Aggies (4-1)
You can tell the SEC isn't very deep this year when Texas A&M - a team desperate to fire their coach - is in the top five. They've won four games in a row since that epic collapse against UCLA and now get a home contest against Alabama. This is the time where their seasons have taken massive downward turns in years past. Will it happen again?

4) Florida Gators (3-1)
Florida continues to find ways to win despite inconsistent quarterback play and are now 3-0 in SEC play. Can they continue their streak at home against LSU on Saturday?

3) Auburn Tigers (4-1)
Auburn's defense is as good as any in the country and it looks like the offense has found their stride of late putting up a combined 100 points (yes, you read that right) in their last two games. If Jarrett Stidham & Co. can continue to play like this, look out for the Tigers.

2) Georgia Bulldogs (5-0)
Kirby Smart's squad is the clear favorite in the SEC East following that win over Tennessee. Georgia is another team clicking on all cylinders, outscoring the Vols and Mississippi State 72-3 over the last two games. They're playing at a high level on both sides of the ball.

1) Alabama Crimson Tide (5-0)
What better way to follow up a 59-0 conference win than with a 66-3 conference win? The offense looks great, Jalen Hurts has improved as a passer and the defense is as good as ever. The SEC still runs through Tuscaloosa.
