After it was announced that Arizona head coach Rich Rodriguez would be returning to the Wildcats instead of accepting their offer, the South Carolina Gamecocks have turned to Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp to succeed the recently retired Steve Spurrier as the university’s next head football coach.
Muschamp spent one season at Auburn after spending four years at Florida as the Gators’ head coach. While at Florida, Muschamp compiled a 28-21 record, but only led the Gators to bowls in two of his four seasons before finally getting the ax at the end of the 2014 season.
