Nobody looked at Thursday’s Vanderbilt-Western Kentucky game in advance and expected a defensive showdown.

The over-under point total was 60, but neither offense turned in a highlight-reel performance in Nashville on Thursday. However, Western Kentucky’s potent offense came alive in the fourth quarter, and the Hilltoppers escaped with a 14-12 win when Joe Brown stopped Nathan Marcus at the 1 on the potential game-tying two-point pass.
