NCAA's NIL Rules Accused of Being Antitrust Violations in Lawsuit Filed by TN, VA AGs

While the Tennessee Vols are being investigated by the NCAA for potential violations of the name, image and likeness rules, the NCAA now has more to worry about.

ESPN's Pete Thamel reported on Wednesday that attorney generals from Tennessee and Virginia have filed a federal lawsuit against the NCAA alleging that the NIL rules fall under the category of antitrust violations.

Per Adam Sparks of the Knoxville News Sentinel, Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti argued in the suit that the NCAA violated federal antitrust laws by putting a "shifting and opaque series of rules and guidelines" on the benefits athletes receive from their name, image and likeness.
