Jeffery Simmons, a 5-star football recruit who has committed to the Mississippi State Bulldogs, per 247Sports, offered an apology Saturday after a video emerged showing him hit a woman several times Thursday evening.
According to WCBI.com's Summer Rascoll, Simmons posted a message on Facebook explaining the actions that led to the altercation. Gridiron Now's Alex McDaniel shared the message via Twitter:

Rascoll reported that while law enforcement "is aware of the incident," the police have yet to comment on it and have not indicated whether legal action will be taken against Simmons.
