BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Gus Malzahn was at the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame on Thursday to address the media and answer questions about his team’s upcoming matchup with Memphis in the Birmingham Bowl.
The media, though, was far less interested in the bowl game than they were Auburn’s search for its next defensive coordinator.
“I’m not ready to say yet,” Malzahn said. “I’d rather hire one sooner rather than later, but I want to make sure I get the right guy.”
It’s been five days since former Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp left his position to become the head coach at South Carolina.
