While most SEC teams continue work in spring football this week, one team wrapped up last week: Vanderbilt. The Commodores held their annual Black and Gold spring game on Friday and now begin counting down the days until their 2016 season officially opens on Sept. 1 versus South Carolina.
Here are some observations from the Commodores' time on the field Friday night:
The quarterbacks -- particularly Kyle Shurmur -- were accurate: While stats are typically going to look good for quarterbacks (who won’t fear being sacked because coaches usually restrict live tackling of the signal-callers in practices and spring games), it still had to be encouraging for Vanderbilt fans to see how sharp their quarterbacks looked in the spring game, particularly sophomore Kyle Shurmur, who ended the 2015 season as the starting quarterback.
