Despite finish, future appears bright for Jim McElwain at Florida

ATLANTA -- Few gave Florida much of a chance against Alabama in Saturday's SEC championship game. The size, speed, strength, and talent Alabama possessed was just too much for a Florida team still finding its way under a first-year coach.

But this group, which won just seven games last year and watched its coach get fired, found a way to win 10 games in 2015 and was in Atlanta with a chance at the SEC title. Blast the SEC East all you want, but someone had to win it, and the Gators did it with a completely new coaching staff and philosophy.
