Burning questions as Kentucky opens fall camp

Will we see a true quarterback competition?

Although there was never an official announcement regarding a starter, all signs coming out of spring practice pointed to junior Patrick Towles being top gun after a thoroughly-impressive showing in Shannon Dawson’s new scheme. Stoops maintains that the competition will remain open as camp begins, meaning Drew Barker and perhaps Reese Phillips (if cleared at full health) will have one more brief window of opportunity to challenge Towles. Perhaps only two weeks. Barker also looked much-improved this spring, and don’t be surprised if the staff tries to get the former Elite 11 quarterback some reps early in the season to have him ready should Towles stumble or suffer an injury.
