Bama picking up former Bulldogs DC to replace Georgia-bound Kirby Smart

Alabama is expected to hire former Georgia defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt for the same position, sources told ESPN's Chris Low.

Pruitt spent this season working under coach Mark Richt, who was dismissed by Georgia earlier this month and replaced by Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart.

An Alabama native, Pruitt was defensive coordinator under Jimbo Fisher at Florida State in 2013.

The move to Tuscaloosa marks a return for Pruitt, who was a high school assistant coach at Birmingham, Alabama, powerhouse Hoover High before beginning his college career under Nick Saban in 2007 as an off-field assistant at Alabama.
