TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Derrick Henry could probably use a rest.
Alabama’s junior running back already has more carries this season (240) than his first two years combined (208). And even though he might seem unbreakable at 6-foot-3 and 242 pounds, he’s not. No one is. The Florida native has taken a pounding the past two games with LSU and Mississippi State’s defenses going all-in on stopping him. Nearly 600 of his 1,458 rushing yards have come after first contact, which ranks fourth among FBS players.
So after six consecutive 20-plus carry games, Charleston Southern might be the right time for Nick Saban to give his Heisman Trophy-caliber back something of a day off.
