What a night to remember for Clint Dempsey.

After going 90 minutes and recording an assist against El Salvador in the CONCACAF Gold Cup quarterfinals, the Seattle Sounders forward began on the bench on Saturday night in the United States’ semifinal match against Costa Rica at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.

With the game scoreless in the 66th minute, head coach Bruce Arena brought on Dempsey in place of Paul Arriola and the U.S. national team legend went to work.

Dempsey set up Jozy Altidore for the go-ahead goal in the 72nd minute before capitalizing on a free kick himself in the 82nd minute to secure the U.
