Vancouver Whitecaps midfielder Kianz Froese suspended for Sounders match

Vancouver Whitecaps midfielder Kianz Froese has been suspended for Saturday’s match against the Sounders and fined an undisclosed amount, the MLS Disciplinary Committee announced Thursday.

Froese was sanctioned for “serious foul play that endangered the safety of an opponent” in the 74th minute of Vancouver’s loss in Kansas City.

Real Salt Lake midfielder Sunny was also hit with an undisclosed fine for embellishment late in his team’s 2-1 win over Seattle last Saturday at Rio Tinto Stadium, when he somersaulted over Osvaldo Alonso’s outstretched legs. The sequence in question led to RSL’s game-winning, 86th-minute goal.
