Seattle Sounders Academy goalkeeper Sam Fowler has received a special invitation to train with the United States U-17 national team from Feb. 1-9 at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
Head coach John Hackworth recently named his 32-man roster for the upcoming spring semester of the U.S. U-17 Residency Program. Although Fowler was not on the initial list, his performances this season with the Sounders warranted a closer look from the U.S. Soccer staff. This is his first call-up to a United States youth national team.
A product of the Sounders Discovery Program, the starting goalkeeper for the Sounders’ U-16 side has spent the last four years in the Rave Green youth system.
