It’s now almost 48 hours since Alvaro Fernandez scored his first goal since rejoining the Seattle Sounders, and I can’t stop thinking about that gorgeous buildup. Sounders head coach Brian Schmetzer called it “probably the best team goal we scored this year”, and that still feels like an understatement.
The final few touches are the best part, but the full buildup is what makes it such a great team goal.
The buildup starts in the Sounders’ end when Stefan Frei catches a cross and quickly rolls it to Joevin Jones, who dribbles it deep into the Real Salt Lake end.
