Sounders vs Timbers, recap: Will Bruin keeps Sounders in first

The Seattle Sounders played their way to a very frustrating 1-1 draw with the Portland Timbers on Thursday night, needing one of the latest goals in the rivalry’s history to salvage that. The late goal was enough to keep the Sounders in first place of the Western Conference where they’re even on points with one fewer game played than the Timbers.

Sloppy defending provided the Timbers with their opener, as no one picked up Andres Flores as he made a late run and hung out on the edge of the Sounders 18 where he ultimately picked up a rebound and fired it home.
