With first place on the line, if only until other league games are played, the Seattle Sounders have an advantage of knowing that Sporting Kansas City played a tough midweek game to advance in the US Open Cup. That likely means a somewhat reduced and less effective lineup, but Sounders coach Brian Schmetzer is not counting on that.
“People are writing about how they played 120 and penalties and have to travel, that’s a load of bullcrap,” said Schmetzer. “They’re still going to come here and try and win the game.
