Sounders to honor music legend Chris Cornell

Seattle lost a local legend this week. Chris Cornell, of Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Audioslave and his self-title work, took his own life shortly after a concert in Detroit. Cornell was a huge Seattle sports fan. He loved the Sonics, the Seahawks and Mariners. My only evidence he knew of the Sounders is his interaction with me.

Chris helped define a musical genre that defined Seattle and a generation. And now he’s gone.

During today’s game a vast majority of the music the Seattle Sounders will play during pregame, halftime and postgame will be music that Cornell wrote and sang.
