Sounders midfielder Osvaldo Alonso expected to play against Salt Lake

Sounders midfielder Osvaldo Alonso is not expected to receive any retroactive punishment from the MLS Disciplinary Committee on top of the one-match ban he served last weekend against Dallas, and will thus be available for this Sunday’s regular-season finale against Real Salt Lake at CenturyLink Field.

Alonso was red carded in the second half of Seattle’s scoreless home draw against Houston last Wednesday at CenturyLink Field for grabbing Will Bruin’s neck and face. The veteran midfielder addressed the fallout from his early exit and subsequent suspension on Thursday at Starfire Sports.

“Sometimes that happens,” Alonso said. “Other people support me.
