Sounders make two big signings at transfer deadline

They left it a little late, but the Seattle Sounders made a big splash on the final day of the summer transfer window. In addition to landing a long-sought U22 Initiative player by signing Léo Chú from Gremio, they also acquired Frenchman Nicolas Benezet in a trade with the Colorado Rapids. Together, the Sounders have bolstered their veteran depth while raising their ceiling with a 21-year-old attacker who already has nearly 40 professional appearances in Brazil.

“We are pleased to add two quality players in Léo and Nicolas before the end of the secondary transfer window,” Sounders FC General Manager & President of Soccer Garth Lagerwey said in a team statement.
