Sounders forward Clint Dempsey, who has been sidelined since late last month while undergoing evaluations on an irregular heartbeat, returned to practice on Wednesday morning at Starfire Sports.
General manager Garth Lagerwey and coach Brian Schmetzer will speak to local media following the training session. Both are expected to explain what Dempsey’s return means for his status ahead of this weekend’s rivalry match against Vancouver and beyond.
Dempsey has been dealing with related health concerns throughout the 2016 season, according to club sources, until the issue came to a head following the home victory over Portland on Aug.
